Are you a business owner ordering from Belgium, Germany, or another EU country? If so, it is possible to reverse the VAT charge during checkout. This means we will not charge VAT, and you will declare the VAT yourself in your own VAT return.
To utilize the VAT reverse charge, it is important to enter a valid VAT number during checkout. Shopify will automatically verify this. Once the VAT number is approved, the VAT will be deducted directly from the order.
What should you pay attention to?
-
Ordering with VAT reverse charge is only possible for business customers within the EU
-
Ensure your VAT number is entered correctly and completely
-
The invoice will then be issued with VAT reversed
After completing the order, you will receive an invoice clearly stating that the VAT has been reversed according to applicable EU rules.
Do you have questions about VAT reverse charge or are you having trouble during checkout? Please feel free to contact us; we are happy to help. Below is the step-by-step plan.
Step 1 – Add desired products to your cart

Step 5 – Complete your order
After entering your VAT number, you can complete the payment as usual.
Step 6 – Receive your invoice
After placing the order, you will receive an invoice stating that the VAT has been reversed. You will then declare this VAT yourself in your own VAT return in your country.
